For this renovation project, our contractors built a brand new 10′ x 8′ wooden deck to replace the old worn out one. Its simplicity and linear features clearly notes a contemporary design.
Prior to diving into the build, the contractors demolished the old structure – including concrete blocks, the railing, and the staircase. The homeowners took advantage of the demolition process and removed the little roof above the old balcony. This has allowed there to be more natural light in the house and lightened up the exterior look of the house.
Our Verified Contractors opted to install the augered piles before building the deck’s frame. This way, the deck will be as sturdy as can be. Seeing as we have extreme weather fluctuations, having installed the augered piles first secures the deck’s structure so as not to damage it. Plus, their installation does not require excavation work – making them simple to put in place. The balcony’s frame is made of 2 x 8 treated wood and houses 5/4 cedar, six cedar steps and an aluminum stringer (staircase), a cedar railing with metal bars, and lattice fencing around the bottom of the deck. A door was also installed underneath the deck to allow for easier access to a storage space.
The Robbio family can now take full advantage of barbecue season & beautiful sunny days on their brand new wooden deck.
