Sometimes, there’s nothing but a simple wall between a homeowner and a perfect vision. As a matter of fact, for the expansion of this Ahuntsic, Montreal duplex, that was the exact case!

The owners wanted to add to their livable space, all while ensuring the maximum amount of natural light and openness. Since the original layout consisted of a closed concept floor plan, it was essential that the architect change it to reflect their desire or something open and airy. Converting it all into an open concept floor plan was therefore the obvious choice.

The scope of work for this complete home remodel was quite large. It was all executed under the supervision of a Verified Home Addition Contractor. The building was extended in the back on 2 storeys, including an extension on the foundation to allow for the addition to extend to the basement as well. The old kitchen was completely renovated to make way for a chic and contemporary design. The bathroom and the powder room were also redone to fit in with the new more modern look of the rest of the home. The basement was redesigned to include a bedroom and a billiards room. The basement’s kitchenette and bathroom were also renovated, making the whole space completely functional.

For the exterior, new brick cladding was added to blend seamlessly with the old façade. Two large balconies were built, and the second storey one was designed as a covered outdoor living space.
